The Government of Uganda has recalled the rotten beans that it has been dishing out to vulnerable communities in Greater Kampala after being hit hard by the Coronovirus lockdown
This was revealed by State Minister for ICT, Peter Ogwang who took to his Twitter saying: “Today we had to recall some of the beans meant to be given out to some zones in Nsambya Central Parish because it was not good enough for consumption. Uganda National Bureau of Standards might have to up their game on quality control. I am heading to meet them about the same.”
This comes barely a day Speaker Rebecca Kadaga shockingly revealed that Government has been giving out rotten beans and expired milk to the people.
Yesterday, Kadaga made a scathing attack at both the Executive and Judiciary for denouncing the Shs10bn Parliament allocated itself with each MP walking away with Shs20M to ostensibly fight Coronovirus in their constituencies.
She wondered why the public is concentrating on Shs10Bn allocated to Parliament, in total disregard to the Shs59bn allocated to the Ministry of Disaster Preparedness to supply food to the vulnerable communities in Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono districts.
“The budget also included Shs59b which they are using to buy rotten milk and beans. Appropriation is for Parliament, now a judge wants to do the work. We want to make it clear, MPs have been spending more. I can tell you that personally I have spent over Shs200m on this COVID-19. It’s clear Parliament is under attack from the Executive and Judiciary. We are going to take appropriate action on that,” Kadaga said while addressing journalists at Parliament.
