With the heat of the presidential campaigns beginning to rise, this newspaper is reliably informed that the People Power Presidential candidate and Member of Parliament for Kyadondo East Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu is set to pay a courtesy call to the rival Kyabazinga Edward Muloki Wambuzi II. Kyagulanyi visit follows a private visit that the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca A Kadaga made recently on the 29th of June 2020 at the Nakabango Palace, the Home of Kyabazinga Edward Muloki Wambuzi II. The politics in Busoga seem to have taken a sharp twist following the declining influence of the current politicians in Busoga and the resentment by the people following the forceful enthronement of William Nadiope as Kyabazinga of Busoga following his failure to successfully contest the enthronement of Kyabazinga Edward Muloki Wambuzi II as Kyabazinga of Busoga on the 31st of October 2008 immediently after the death of his father Henry Wako Muloki the previous Kyabazinga of Busoga.
It should be noted that immediately after the death of Henry Wako Muloki, the Hereditary Chiefs Royal Council of Busoga sat and elected Edward Muloki Wambuzi II as Kyabazinga of Busoga to replace Henry Wako Muloki. This election was contested by Prince Fred Kakaire Menya hereditary chief of Bugweri and William Nadiope Gabula in Election Petition No. 1 of 2009 before the High Court of Jinja but this petition was dismissed by the court. The petition sought to challenge the election of Edward Wambuzi II as Kyabazinga of Busoga replacing his father. In 2008, another group of Basoga supported by politicians petitioned the Constitutional Court of Uganda challenging the current Busoga Constitution in force under which Edward Wambuzi was elected as Kyabazinga of Busoga through Constitutional Petiton No.11 of 2008, this petition was equally dismissed by all the five justices of the Constituitional Court. This paper has equally learnt that upon the declaration of William Nadiope as Kyabazinga of Busoga, the Kingdom of Busoga through its leadership then together with Edward Muloki Wambuzi petitioned the High Court of Jinja challenging the election of William Nadiope as Kyabazinga of Busoga and all the hereditary chiefs of Busoga who participated in it. This petition is currently before the court in jinja and this paper confirms that 3 of the hereditary chiefs that elected William Nadiope as Kyabazinga namely Chief Luba Munuulo of Bunhya Chiefdom, Yasin Waguma of Butembe Chiefdom and Samuel Kamaga of Bukono Chiefdom all admitted before the presiding Judge Micheal Elubu that the election of William Nadiope as Kyabazinga of Busoga was a contravention of the Busoga Constitution and norms since it was conducted when Edward Muloki Wambuzi II had already been elected by the hereditary chiefs of Busoga on the 31st of October 2008 following the death of his father Henry Wako Muloki and approved by all the organs of the Busoga government. This paper is equally reliably informed that before Speaker of Parliament Rebecca A Kadaga paid a visit to the Nakabango Palace, the current Prime Minister of Busoga Dr Joseph Muvawala together with his two assistants Prof Waiswa and Ahmed Omar as well as the Secretary General of NRM Kasule Lumumba have all have made private visits to Nakabango Palace.
