President Museveni’s Senior Advisor on investments, Mayor Nasser Ntege Sebaggala wants him to hand over power and remain the chairman of the National Resistance Movement party (NRM).
Sebaggala, at one time the Mayor of Kampala, currently serving as one of the President’s senior advisors says that his master having served in the same post for over 35 years should relinquish power to a young man like Kyagulanyi Sentamu of People Power.
“Having ruled for over 35 years, for President Museveni to leave a legacy should hand over power to a capable young man like Bobi wine and he remains chairman of the NRM,” Sebaggala was quoted as saying.
Sebaggala has also gone ahead and declared himself as the flag bearer for People power (PP) to contest for the Kampala mayor ship against the incumbent Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago whom he erroneously accuses of having over stayed in office.
He says, Lukwago who is unfit to be in that office, to overcome him requires a political giant like him and rubbishes other aspirants for the same post like Nabillah Nagayi and Jose Chameleon calling them political upstarts and unfit for such a struggle.
“To overcome Lukwago, PP needs a political giant like me who grew up in Kampala, and became part of the business Community because I started doing business since my youthful age in Nakasero market. I know the problems of businessmen, that is why they love me,” he said.
Sebaggala also ridicules Lukwago for practicing what he terms as a militant politics of confronting the Police in pursuit of the common man’s interests.
He says, it is ignominious for the bearer of such a powerful office to stoop so low just to show that you are sacrificing yourself for the interests of the electorate.
“Once in the seat, I will not be a Lord Mayor that is prepared to expose myself to such risk just to propagate the interests of Kampala’s urban poor,” he vowed.
He however affirmed that he is very serious this time round unlike in 2016 when he briefly joined Gen Sejusa to oppose Museveni then went back to NRM.
