TALKING POINTS FOR GREATER ARUA
Greater Arua is comprised of 04 Districts, namely; Arua, Koboko, Maracha andYumbe Districts
Government through UDC has completed a Sh. 20 billion mango fruit factory in Yumbe District. Government has put aside Sh 9 billion for working capital. Processing will start the next mango season.
Government releases for 2020/2021; Arua District-72,033,872,000, Yumbe District-53,483,090,000, Koboko District-17,189,184,000, Maracha District-24,884,987,000, Arua Municipal Council-26,521,706,000, Koboko Municipal Council-7,179,491,000, Total-201,292,330,000.
In the last four years, a total of UGX 572,663,388,073 has been released to Greater Arua.
Youth Livelihood Programme; since inception of the programme, a total of 820 projects worth UGX 6,414, 286,688 have been funded. This is benefiting 10,063 youth.
To date a total of 704 Projects worth UGX.2,268,588,059 billion have been financed in Greater Arua.
Road fund releases for 2020/2021; Arua District-794,248,075, Yumbe District-1,051,013,067, Koboko District-429,022,860, Maracha District-678,987,463, Arua Municipal Council-954,409,835, Koboko Municipal Council-415,520,484, Total-4,322,734,784
Inputs; Koboko District received 207 Dairy Cattle for Livestock enterprises, Yumbe district received 01 Maize Mill for Value Addition,03Tractors, and 10,000 Hoes for Farm, Mechanisation Equipment.
Yumbe District received 73 Dairy Cattle for Livestock enterprises, Yumbe district got 03 Tractors for Farm Mechanisation Equipment

Yumbe Hospital has been renovated and remodeled. It will be commissioned soon.
The government has concentrated on increase of water coverage in each district and ensuring that there is a source of water source per village to ensure equity in service delivery.
Completed the construction of Nyangila solar powered mini piped system and in Maracha.
Completed the construction of solar powered mini piped system of Kilanga in Yumbe serving an estimated 2,100 persons .
Construction of Kagoropa-Marukulu Solar powered system for mini irrigation in Kuluba sub county Koboko.
The government intends to undertake Construction of West Nile Dry Corridor Water Supply System proposed to supply the 9districts of West Nile targeting 48 water stressed sub counties in the region with a target population of 749,585. The estimated cost will beSh 751billion based on the ongoing projects in the country.
The total length of water distribution network in Greater Arua is about 568km. As at March 2020 the water supply system in the region had 18,168 water connections and 803 Public Stand Pipes (PSPs).
Construction of Biacici valley tank in Ajia Sub-county in Arua District (20,000,000 litres) is ongoing.
Upgrading Of Vurra – Arua – Oraba Road (92 Km) was completed in 2015.
Rehabilitation Of Pakwach-Nebbi Road (30km) Was Completed In 2016
Refugee Roads (Koboko – Yumbe – Moyo road (105km)); Feasibility Study and Preliminary Engineering Designs completed in June 2020; World Bank Board of Directors approved the grant to finance the project on 10 September 2020
Refugee roads (Yumbe-Ure); ESIA for Yumbe – Ure road was submitted to NEMA for approval. The RAP methodology is at the CGVs office for final approval pending a field visit.
Rehabilitation Design for Karuma – Pakwach (106 Km); Detailed Engineering Design for Rehabilitation was completed in June 2020.
Rehabilitation Design for Nebbi – Arua (74km); Detailed Engineering Design for Rehabilitation works is ongoing
Laropi Bridge; Completed Structural design for Bridge
The government will procure additional road construction equipment for the benefit of new districts which were created between 2018 and 2019. The districts in West Nile include; Obongi, Madi Okollo and Terego
Roads in Arua city have been reconstructed under Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID) Program
The Government will procure additional road construction equipment for the benefit of 13 districts which were created between 2018 and 2019. The districts include; Madi-Okollo.
Each district will get a road unit consisting of a motor grader, wheel loader, two dump trucks and a water bowser by 2022.
Government plans to refurbish 645 units of serviceable equipment imported from China in 2012 and redistribute it among Municipal Councils and new Cities by 2022.
