Yoweri Museveni has directed for constitution of an emergency temporary National task force to handle the emerging level of health threat posed by the new wave of covid 19 in the country.
In a letter to stakeholders, Dr Diana Atwine, the Parmanent Secretary ministry of health informs stakeholders about the President’s directive and has thus scheduled for an emergency meeting on Thursday 27 at the President’s office in Kampala.
According to the the communication, the taskforce is to be comprised of Parmanent secretaries and Under Secretaries of skakeholder Ministries, who are joined by representatives of the WHO, CDC, Red Cross, the Private Sector Foundation among others.
Uganda is facing a new wave of the Covid 19 pandemic and registered over 1000 new cases in the last 7 days, calling for emergency response. Due to the absence of cabinet apparently, the old taskforce ceased to exist and therefore handling the situation would require a new taskforce as per the President’s directive.
There are worries in the public that the new wave may lead to another total lock-down.
