President Museveni Pays Tribute to Late Minister Sarah Mateke, Emphasizes Health Vigilance

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has paid tribute to the late Minister of State for Defence, Hon. Sarah Mateke, highlighting her contributions to Uganda and emphasizing the importance of health vigilance and regular check-ups for all Ugandans.
Speaking at a special memorial event held at Parliament, President Museveni honored Hon. Mateke for her calm demeanor and thoughtful approach.
“I have come to express my solidarity with Dr. Mateke’s family and to acknowledge the commendable work she was undertaking,” President Museveni said.
“We mourn her loss and extend our deepest sympathies to her family. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” he added.
The President reflected on Hon. Mateke’s role in a committee studying the situation in Congo, noting her valuable contributions.
“As a representative of Kisoro, Hon. Mateke’s careful and thoughtful contributions were highly valued,” President Museveni said.
“It is a significant loss,” he added.
President Museveni also urged all Ugandans to prioritize their health.
“The loss of any individual creates a gap that is difficult to fill,” he said.
“I encourage all cadres to prioritize their health, undergo regular check-ups, and rest when needed,” he added.
“It is crucial to be mindful of our well-being to prevent such tragedies,” President Museveni emphasized.
The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among, expressed her heartfelt gratitude and condolences to the President.
“On behalf of Parliament and the Mateke family, we thank you, Your Excellency, for your unwavering support,” she said.
The event was attended by the Vice President, H.E Jessica Alupo, the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, Members of Parliament, the Family of the Late Hon. Mateke, and other mourners.
President Museveni’s tribute and call for health vigilance serve as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing one’s health and well-being, especially for public servants and leaders who play critical roles in shaping the country’s future.
