Anthrax Outbreak Hits Bushenyi District, Claims One Life

Health officials in Bushenyi district have confirmed an anthrax outbreak, resulting in one fatality.
The district’s Veterinary Officer, Dr. Roberts Natukunda, revealed that samples from five individuals tested positive for anthrax.
The infected individuals, including the deceased, are residents of Kitagata in Kyeizooba Sub-county.
Initially, locals attributed the illness to witchcraft, but officials urged seeking medical attention.
Following confirmation, calm has returned, and affected individuals are now seeking medical help.
Authorities plan to quarantine the area and vaccinate animals to curb the disease’s spread.
Anthrax is a serious infectious disease caused by Bacillus anthracis bacteria, commonly affecting animals and sometimes humans.
Symptoms include skin sores and vomiting.
