Uganda’s National ID Drive: Reaching the Unregistered

The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has embarked on an ambitious campaign to register citizens without National Identification cards.
A new nationwide outreach program aims to provide mobile registration services at the sub county level, making it easier for residents across the country to obtain their National IDs.
This initiative encourages citizens without National IDs to take advantage of the mobile registration services.
The registration drive will run until November 23, with Local Council 1 chairpersons playing a crucial role in notifying residents about the mobile registration team’s schedule.
Citizens can contact their LC1 chairperson or visit the nearest NIRA office for more information.
The campaign is mandated by the Registration of Persons Act Cap 332, emphasizing the importance of National ID ownership.
