Uganda and Central African Republic Strengthen Ties Amidst Presidential Visit

President Faustin-Archange Touadéra of the Central African Republic has arrived in Uganda for a three-day official visit, invited by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Upon his arrival on October 8, 2024, President Touadéra was warmly received at State House, Entebbe, by President Museveni, accompanied by a delegation of Ministers and Senior Government Officials from the Central African Republic.
The two leaders engaged in a cordial meeting, discussing bilateral, regional, and international matters of mutual concern alongside their respective delegations.
They reaffirmed their commitment to regional and international peace, security, and stability, highlighting the strong ties between Uganda and the Central African Republic.
The leaders appreciated the ongoing exchange visits of senior officials and emphasized the need to optimize these relationships to enhance economic cooperation.
Key discussion topics included progress in Military Cooperation, Disarmament, Demobilisation, and Reintegration processes for former Lord’s Resistance Army members, as well as advancements in Education and Student Exchange initiatives.
Both nations acknowledged untapped natural resources and directed their Ministries of Agriculture, Education, Energy, and Mineral Development to initiate cooperative frameworks for socio-economic development.
President Museveni thanked President Touadéra for accepting the invitation and for the fruitful discussions.
In return, President Touadéra thanked President Museveni and the Ugandan people for their warm hospitality.
The meeting concluded with President Touadéra inviting President Museveni to visit the Central African Republic, which was graciously accepted, with the date to be determined through diplomatic channels.
