Col. Emmy Katabazi, Deputy Director General of the Internal Security Organization (ISO), has stressed the importance of quality and affordable education for all Ugandans.
During his visit to Lion of Judah High School in Kayunga District on October 12, 2024, Col. Katabazi expressed his unwavering interest in nurturing and motivating students to become better leaders.
“People often ask why I dedicate so much time to the youth. The answer is simple: the youth are vibrant and are today’s leaders. By preparing them well, we honor the legacy of those who shed their blood for the betterment of our nation, Uganda,” he stated.
Lion of Judah High School, which encompasses kindergarten, elementary and secondary levels, plans to establish a university to enhance educational opportunities further.
Pastor Saul Yaawe Karya, the school’s director, highlighted the significance of nurturing morals and culture within learners.
“We cannot preserve the morals and culture of our nation without touching the lives of the younger generation. The best way to achieve this is through education,” Pastor Karya said.
Col. Katabazi praised the school’s administration for their dedication to Uganda’s education system.
He emphasized providing quality education at affordable prices, citing Lion of Judah as an example of achieving high-quality education without excessive costs.
“True social transformation occurs when individuals become literate,” he explained, referencing initiatives like Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE) as essential tools for change.
“Education is not just about grades; it’s about the total transformation of an individual,” he added.
Col. Katabazi was impressed by the students’ smartness, cleanliness and discipline, demonstrating the institution’s commitment to quality education.
He thanked the staff for their dedication and acknowledged security forces’ crucial role in safeguarding the nation.
Col. Katabazi stressed teamwork’s importance in personal growth and nation-building.
“You don’t run alone; you run with others because we all play a role in defending this nation. As youth, we need you to do your part: pray hard, love one another and maintain discipline to succeed.”
He urged students and teachers to adapt and leverage technology for transformation.
“We must develop our industry to benefit our society,” he stated, reinforcing education’s essential role in national transformation.
In closing, Col. Katabazi thanked students for their discipline and encouraged them to strive for excellence, reminding them of their crucial role in Uganda’s future.
