Uganda’s Pursuit of Prosperity: President Museveni’s PDM Tour
By The Public Lens
President Yoweri Museveni is embarking on a three-day tour of the Teso sub-region, from November 18th to 20th, 2024, to assess the progress of the Parish Development Model (PDM) and mobilize for wealth creation.
This initiative is part of Uganda’s broader efforts to lift households out of poverty and promote economic growth.
The PDM’s focus on grassroots economic development has drawn comparisons to similar initiatives across Africa, such as Rwanda’s Vision 2020 and Kenya’s Big Four Agenda.
While Uganda’s program is unique, it shares a common goal with these efforts: empowering local communities to drive economic growth.
In the Teso sub-region, President Museveni will engage with stakeholder groups, including local leaders and technical staff, to discuss the PDM’s implementation and address challenges.
He will also address public rallies in Soroti City and other areas.
The president’s previous tour in the Bukedi sub-region highlighted the importance of wealth creation using the four-acre model and “ekibaro” (calculation) to transform livelihoods.
This approach emphasizes the need for communities to take ownership of their economic development.
Key Programs:
– Parish Development Model (PDM): Aims to boost household income and improve livelihoods.
– NAADs: Focuses on agricultural development and poverty alleviation.
– Operation Wealth Creation: Seeks to create economic opportunities and reduce poverty.
– Emyooga: A program aimed at promoting economic growth and development.
By promoting these initiatives, President Museveni’s Wealth Creation Tour aims to create a prosperous Uganda, where communities thrive and economic growth is inclusive.
