Cholima Bronze Statue at night
“Seeing the documentary people will understand why its producers described the Korean people, who are struggling indomitably braving every manner of difficulties, as ‘the happiest people in the world.’” This is a quote from the commentary of an online magazine on the recently-released Russian documentary The Land of the Happiest People.
The documentary, soon after its release, was broadcast widely in Russia through TV channels and online drawing the audiences to the screen.
It shows the Korean people from all walks of life visiting the bronze statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, eternal leaders of the DPRK on Mansu Hill, their happy life blossoming in the socialist system which is developing thanks to the love of Supreme leader Kim Jong Un for the people and younger generations, and scenic spots and natural scenery in the DPRK. The TV audiences and internet visitors expressed their wonder, saying, “Is it really north Korea?” “The city is very beautiful,” and “North Koreans are so kind.”
Foreigners including journalists, who witnessed the reality of the DPRK recently, are unanimous in expressing their surprise and admiration, because what they saw was quite different from what Western media reported.
The Russian documentary presents as it is a social system quite different from the capitalist world, a system that flies in the face of Western propaganda.
The spiritual world of the Korean people is crystal-clear and unstained: they help and lead one another forward, regard others’ misfortune as their own and put others’ interests before their own. They have formed a large, harmonious family. Even though the situation is extremely acute, they are optimistic in their life.
One cannot find any anxiety, unrest and worry from their welcoming faces. Their smiling faces bespeak their pride and dignity in their achievements and hopes and aspirations for the future. Their smile is symbolic of their genuine happiness and pride.
Through several decades of socialist construction, they learned the truth that self-reliance is the only way to survive.
In the past they were suppressed by foreign aggressors for a long time, and suffered much during the Korean war; now they are technically at war with the US. When these are taken into consideration, the achievements they have performed are really great.
The DPRK is now definitely on the track of steady development; it is now modernizing all sectors; modern streets are being built one after another and the production capacities and output at factories and enterprises are on the increase; the free education and free medical care systems are in force on a higher level; houses that can be called luxurious by Western standards are supplied to the working people free of charge. What is important is that the country strives to be self-reliant in everything, displaying the might of the planned economy on a high level.
A Russian said, “North Korea has far developed compared to a few decades ago. Revitalization of its economy proves that the decision of its leadership is logically correct.”
What one cannot miss when covering the reality of the DPRK is that everyone expresses, first of all, his or her admiration and respect for their leaders and then his or her determination to live up to their expectation.
It is difficult for those living in the West to understand this reality.
Go to the country, and one can understand it easily. They will learn that the preceding leaders of the country devoted their all throughout their lives for the sake of the people, and that now Supreme leader Kim Jong Un works with devotion for the good of the people.
A Czech newspaper wrote under the title, Let’s Be Impartial in Seeing the DPRK, “It will be difficult for foreigners to understand the boundless reverence and respect of the Korean people for their leader. Marshal Kim Jong Un devotes his all for the prosperity of the country and happiness of the people while politicians in the West seek only their own fame. The Korean people led by the great leader is the envy of the world’s people. They are happiest in the world.”
