Museveni’s Call to Action: Mindset Shift and Effective Land Use for Wealth Creation
By The Public Lens
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has emphasized the need for Ugandans to adopt a mindset change and utilize their land effectively to eradicate poverty.
During his tour of Teso Integrated Farm in Serere District on Monday, November 18th, 2024, Museveni urged Ugandans to embrace the four-acre model practice for effective wealth creation.
The four-acre model, as outlined by Museveni, involves allocating one acre for clonal coffee, one acre for fruits, one acre for food crops, and one acre for pasture and dairy farming.
This approach has been successful for entrepreneurs like Joseph Ijala, owner of Teso Integrated Farm, who started with just 35 birds in 2011 and now employs 38 people and earns a net profit of Shs600 million yearly.
“I started my small poultry farm with 35 local chickens and started expanding slowly. I now have dairy cows, giving me about 300 liters of milk.
I also get about 360 trays of eggs daily from my 10,000 birds,” Ijala shared with Museveni during his visit.
Museveni commended Ijala’s progress and pledged to donate a yogurt processing machine worth Shs150 million to enhance value addition.
He also donated Shs10 million to Ijala’s family.
“I don’t regret losing my job because it helped me to secure messages of wisdom to create wealth. You have always given us the young people free wisdom to chase away poverty,” Ijala expressed, thanking Museveni for restoring peace and stability in the country.
Museveni stressed that poverty can only be eradicated through commitment and sacrifice.
He advised those with large landholdings to combine extensive and intensive enterprises to generate more income and warned against land fragmentation, citing it as a major contributor to persistent poverty.
As part of his tour, Museveni will visit successful farms and engage with local leaders to promote wealth creation strategies.
