‘Am here to provide the best alternative leadership in Isingiro’
Mufakinanye Moses aka Omujugujugu is one of the erstwhile young NRM cadres who have been at the core of mobilizing support for the NRM and President Yoweri Museveni in previous elections. He is also among the national party ideologues aiding the President to preach the message of wealth creation in the ongoing efforts of socio-economic transformation. He spoke to The Public Lens about his aspirations to contest for Insingiro Parliamentary seat come 2021. Below are excerpts:-
Who is Omujugujugu Moses?
My name is Mufakinanye Moses popularly known as Omujugujugu Moses – the committed Commissioned Cadre born on Christmas Day in 1992 to Mzee Geoffrey Tumwine Murefu and Mrs Jane Tumwine Tukahirwa of Rwanyinamagangure ll , Bugongi Parish, Nyakitunda subcounty, Isingiro District. I am the 6th of the 11 children in the family. I am a teacher of business subjects by profession though I have not practiced teaching, and a continuing student of Education at Makerere University and as well as a student at Law Development Centre.
I am an entrepreneur and farmer in Isingiro and also working with a CBO in Isingiro (Serve And Save Africa Mission – SASAM) organizing and reaching out to the most vulnerable people in hard to reach rural areas of Africa.
I was born a leader and I have been in leadership from my Primary Two class to date, and where I have led, I have left a legacy behind.
I play some football, love traveling and networking. I am naturally a go-getter and a lobbyist.
How do you intend to use the Parliamentary platform to influence policy and legislation for the common good of the wananchi?
I want to provide the best alternative leadership the people of Isingiro have been yearning for by mobilizing communities to embrace NRM ideology number 3 (Socio -Economic transformation). My manifesto will elaborate this extensively.
The strength of the district is entirely dependent on the quality of leaders. I am a proven leader with proven and outstanding leadership skills. And as a student of society, I will always make thorough consultations with my constituents on the bills before the August House so that they have a direct input. I intend to use my lobbying skills during the drafting of the Budget so that issues of Isingiro constituency are put on the forefront.
What value do you add onto NRM by contesting on NRM ticket?
My father actively participated in the bush war that ushered in the good NRM Government. I thoroughly understand the ideals of the Revolution. By standing on the NRM ticket, I am guarding the revolution, embracing and practicing the negation of the negation principle and I bring on board mammoth crowds of the young people I have inspired and built confidence in over time, among others.
How have you built the voters’ trust to send you to parliament?
I studied from the village, I have been here, I have mobilized my community towards achieving and registering critical success in health, in education a case in point, I have single handedly sponsored 84 children from poor families to access free quality education in first class schools across the constituency, I have connected many youths for employment opportunities, organized youths along sports and talent development line and many others. It’s the people requesting me to represent them. This is a clear confidence the people have in me.
What if you don’t make it in primaries, are you ready to support the winner?
I am a reliable committed Commissioned cadre, if the primaries exercises are conducted freely and fairly, I will back myself because I am winning.
What don’t you like about your NRM Party?
Selfishness in our leaders, internal fightings and lack of cohesion.
You describe yourself as a “Commissioned NRM cadre.” Commissioned to do what, and when were you commissioned?
Yes I am a national reliable, unshakable committed commissioned cadre of the Revolution. On 16th January, 2017 President Museveni directed I represent Isingiro District for a cadreship and leadership course in Kyankwanzi and he later commissioned me and other colleagues from other districts across the country. He baptized us as “cadre” and urged us to go and put what we learnt into practice.
What message do you have to young people joining People Power?
Young People joining ‘people power’ is as a result of excitement and lack of clear ideology. And vital to note, people power is not there- it’s “Bobi Wine power” ever since he decided to appoint coordinators, but not the people choosing their coordinators.
I advise them to embrace NRM that is built on strong pillars and the NRM bus has enough seats for everyone.
As a young aspiring politician, what plans do you have to help Govt and other stakeholders solve the mass unemployment crisis?
We must change the education system to focus on producing job creators than is the case today where it focuses on job seekers, the 4 acre model President Museveni has been preaching in his Wealth Creation tours also works, we must also heavily invest in talent search and development and also in games and sports.
