The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has officially launched the campaign portrait of its presidential flag bearer, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
The launch was held at the NRM Secretariat in Kampala in a ceremony presided over by the party’s First National Vice Chairperson, Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo, together with Secretary-General Richard Todwong.
During the unveiling, Todwong told reporters that the 2026 elections will be guided by the theme, “Protecting Gains as We Make a Qualitative Leap into High Middle-Income Status.”
He emphasized that the theme is aligned with both the NRM’s development priorities and President Museveni’s long-term Vision 2040.
“As NRM, we officially present to Ugandans the portrait of our presidential candidate for the 2026 general elections,” Todwong declared.
The event was held alongside an ongoing National Conference harmonization meeting that brought together senior party leaders and coordinators.
Among those in attendance were Emmanuel Dombo, the NRM Director for Communication and Public Relations, Hadijah Namyalo, the National Coordinator in the Office of the NRM Chairman, Dicksons Kateshumbwa, Member of Parliament for Sheema Municipality, and Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde, the NRM Director for Mobilization.
The gathering also served as a platform for the party to meet with district chairpersons and discuss preparations for the forthcoming National Conference.
Discussions centered on building momentum for the campaigns and ensuring that grassroots structures are fully aligned with the national agenda.
President Museveni, who doubles as the NRM National Chairman, has already been endorsed as the party’s presidential flag bearer for the 2026 elections.
His candidacy reflects the NRM’s commitment to continuity in leadership and the pursuit of Uganda’s long-term social and economic transformation.
The portrait unveiling therefore marked both a symbolic and practical step toward mobilizing the party base and projecting unity ahead of the elections.
The NRM leadership used the moment to rally its supporters around the central message of protecting national achievements while striving for a qualitative leap into middle-income status.
With the official portrait now revealed, the party signaled that its campaign machinery is in motion, laying the groundwork for President Museveni’s re-election bid in 2026.
