Mass media, sensitive to politics, have a great propaganda impact. They must conduct their activities objectively on the basis of most truthful and reliable news.
However, the reality of these days shows that there are not a few media organs that have lost objectivity, and propagandize untruthful and deceptive facts.
This is attributable to the wrong publicity policy of the West. According to materials available, the Western countries hold three quarters of the Internet infrastructure and control most of the international information exchange. Availing themselves of their economic strength and the up-to-date science and technology, they have monopolized most of the modern information means, and are propagating their ideologies, cultures and distorted information in accordance with their requirements and interests.
They are intensifying propaganda offensive by resorting to their publicity means to suppress the anti-imperialist, independent countries and their rivals.
A secret document compiled in Washington has following contents:
– You should give an impression that you are in the place that you are speaking about.
– You should behave as if you have the source of your own secret information.
– Blame, blame and blame–this strategic method is the most effective method of propaganda.
– Spread groundless rumors, slander and calumny. But you should behave as if saying the truth.
In reality, means of publicity of the West are spreading doctored information by using vague terms such as “according to a reliable source,” “a diplomat who required anonymity,” “a political expert” and “classified information.”
They are nothing but the means that serves for the realization of the policies of the capitalist countries wirepulled by a handful of the rich.
The American media are a typical example. Successive American administrations have strictly controlled the means of information so that they do not report what are not in the interest of their standpoint.
According to an international nongovernmental organization, information environment in the US is being more aggravated, and journalists are faced with attack, search, arrest, interception of border crossing, and limitation of announcing public news any time.
A typical example is the fact that some years ago Newsweek, which had reported the debasing of the Koran by the investigators of the US army, openly apologized for it.
This fact that often took place in the Guantanamo Bay prison camp was confirmed by representatives of the International Committee of Red Cross, who met the Muslim prisoners there. However, Newsweek could not but apologize for reporting the truth.
The same is the case with the reporting of the situation on the Korean peninsula.
In April 2012 the DPRK invited news organs of various countries to show the peaceful character of its launch of a sci-tech satellite. At that time, the US pressured the news coverage group going to Pyongyang to refrain from reporting the satellite launch. A journalist of a US online newspaper, who had exposed this, said that the White House warned that journalists should be careful not to be an accomplice of north Korea’s “propaganda activities” because this would be free propaganda for north Korea.
Even the Korea specialists in America, saying that the launch at that time was a mega event and had a value of special mention, criticized the behavior of the administration to restrain reporting the event.
Even now, not a few media organs of the West trumpet the situation on the Korean peninsula, doctored to the tastes of the US and its vassal forces.
The reality shows that reliability of mass media will decline so long as the unfair international information order continues.
