Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA)is happy with Stirling Civil engineering Ltd( Kampala) Uganda for the works done in the refurbishment of the Old taxi park and soon the site will be ready for handle over and will be opened to the public for use.
The KCCA Spokesperson Daniel Muhumuza Nuwabine also said that the main contractor- Stirling has some few things to fix and that KCCA has to put in place the governing bodies before the Taxi park is commissioned and re-opened to the public.

ENG. Gennaro Sirgiovanni (in photo below) the Stirling Managing Director could not be reached for comment but Nuwabine stressed that among other things to be fixed are the passenger shelters.
“We have a few things to fix at the old park before it re-opens, but we are happy with stirling they are doing a good job not only at the Old Taxi park; they renovated the new park and have done well other road contracts” Nuwabine added.

KCCA contracted Stirling Civil Engineering at sh9.8b for works on the carpet and Kiru General Services at sh3.6b who are working on the drainage channel to renovate the park.
Initially, the handover of the revamped complex had been set for August last year, but the contractors said the works slowed down due the lockdown and curfew restrictions instituted by the government to control the spread of the coronavirus.
Renovation of Uganda’s largest taxi park through which over 200,000 people transit everyday started in May last year, after KCCA contracted Stirling Civil Engineering.
Original contract price according to KCCA records is sh10,953,067,691.

Pending renovation is an electronic traffic control system at the entrance to record details of vehicles entering and leaving the park.
The chairperson of the Kampala Operators and Taxi Stages Association (KOTISA), Rashid Ssekindi, said his members are eager to return to the complex.
