The Kabaka of Buganda, His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, has finally returned home after a prolonged absence, bringing relief and joy to his subjects.
The monarch arrived at Entebbe Airport on Sunday night, aboard an Ethiopian Airlines plane, and was received by Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, Queen Sylvia Nagginda, and other members of the royal family.
Speaking to the media, Katikkiro Mayiga explained that the decision to seek medical treatment in Namibia was based on expert advice, prioritizing the Kabaka’s health and well-being. “We had to follow the directives from his medical experts, and we are glad to report that the Kabaka is improving well,” Mayiga said, expressing gratitude to the kingdom’s subjects for their unwavering support during the monarch’s absence.
While the Kabaka’s health is reportedly improving, his recovery process is ongoing, and the Okonguari Psychotherapeutic Centre had requested an extension of his stay in Namibia, which was declined by the host government.
Katikkiro Mayiga urged the public to remain patient and ignore baseless reports, assuring that the Kabaka will resume his duties soon.
The Kabaka’s return comes ahead of his 31st coronation anniversary celebrations, scheduled for July 31, 2024.
Despite speculation and drama surrounding his extended stay in Namibia, the monarch’s safe return has brought relief and joy to his subjects.
In a video message, the Kabaka himself assured his people that his health was improving, and he was eager to reunite with them.
The kingdom’s premier praised the Kabaka’s subjects for their commitment and loyalty, saying, “According to our norms, we had to remain active as we waited for his return, and finally, he is back.
