The Busoga sub-region has received a significant boost from the government, with the launch of iron sheet distribution to support vulnerable communities and institutions.
This initiative, launched by Minister of State for Luwero, Hon. Alice Kaboyo, at the Jinja District Headquarters on October 11, 2024, aims to provide essential materials to those in need.
The program is part of the Office of the Prime Minister’s efforts to assist communities, including schools requiring additional support.
Several Members of Parliament and local leaders from Busoga attended the launch, demonstrating the government’s commitment to collaboration.
Minister Kaboyo emphasized the importance of working closely with local leaders for effective service delivery.
“The Office of the Prime Minister, through the Ministry of Luwero Triangle-Busoga Affairs, is committed to working with all relevant stakeholders, especially local leaders, to ensure effective and efficient service delivery,” she stated.
During the Financial Year 2023/2024, the Ministry procured 15,333 iron sheets for Busoga Sub-Region.
Kaboyo expressed dedication to supporting Busoga through micro-projects.
“It is possible to lift our people out of poverty if we embrace government programs and take advantage of interventions aimed at increasing household incomes in this sub-region,” she said.
The Minister urged local leaders to collaborate with Members of Parliament and technical leaders.
Effective resource identification and distribution coordination are crucial to ensure communities benefit from government initiatives.
Looking ahead, Minister Kaboyo announced plans to procure an additional 15,000 iron sheets for vulnerable veterans and institutions in the region for the Financial Year 2024/2025.
