President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, National Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), recently met with the party’s Secretariat leadership, led by Secretary General Rt Hon. Richard Todwong, at his country home in Rwakitura.
The meeting focused on key issues, including the digitization of the party register and the upcoming electoral map.
In his address, President Museveni emphasized the importance of community involvement in the electoral process.
“Your active participation is vital to ensuring the integrity of our electoral process,” he said. “Together, let us uphold the values of democracy and civic engagement.”
Rt. Hon. Todwong noted that the general update of the National Voters register exercise is scheduled to take place from January 20th to February 10th, 2025.
This development comes as the Electoral Commission of Uganda prepares for the 2026 general elections, having launched the electoral roadmap in August 2023.
The commission has outlined key activities, including the nomination of candidates for parliamentary elections in September 2025 and presidential elections in October 2025.
As the NRM gears up for the elections, President Museveni’s call to action underscores the party’s commitment to democratic values and civic engagement.
