President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called upon Ugandans to take ownership of the Parish Development Model (PDM) initiatives and report any corruption or misuse of funds.
The President emphasized that citizens should not tolerate anyone who compromises the program’s integrity, as it aims to empower them to join the money economy and fight poverty.
“You should own the PDM initiative right from its administration to its reach and take on whoever attempts to mess up the initiative because this is a unique program intended to enrich you at the grassroot,” he said.
Museveni also highlighted the government’s plans to intensify its strategy for free primary and secondary education, ensuring that all children across the country have access to quality education.
He stressed that free education is crucial in addressing the high rate of school dropout among vulnerable children, and urged the people of Bunyoro to monitor the program and report any instances of corruption or misuse of funds.
The President also emphasized the importance of modernizing farming methods, such as irrigation, to enhance agricultural productivity and improve livelihoods.
On the issue of land evictions, Museveni ordered authorities to report any instances of illegal evictions, emphasizing that the land question was answered in the Constituent Assembly and subsequent land legislations.
He also announced plans to establish a new police station at Isumba sub-county headquarters and deliver his pledge of Shs300 million to Birembo War veterans.
Additionally, Museveni reiterated his call for wetlands conservation and handed over a brand new fully equipped ambulance to Kagadi District hospital.
Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja thanked the President for his support to the people of Bunyoro and infrastructure development in the sub-region.
