President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has extended a warm welcome to the President of the Republic of Togo, His Excellency Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, who is on a working visit to Uganda.
The two leaders held a meeting at State House Entebbe, where they discussed matters of mutual interest between the two countries and regional security.
The meeting is a significant step towards strengthening bilateral relations and exploring opportunities for cooperation.
President Museveni recently emphasized the importance of African nations taking charge of their development agendas through homegrown solutions and regional integration.
He noted that external support, while helpful, is not a guarantee for sustainable progress in Africa, during the 11th Session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development.
President Gnassingbé’s visit to Uganda is aimed at benchmarking practices that can be used to transform the lives of his people.
He was last in Uganda in 2023, when he specifically benchmarked on how to fight terrorism.
During the meeting, President Museveni stressed the importance of unity among African nations in addressing security challenges and advancing development goals.
The meeting was attended by a delegation of high-ranking officials, including the former Prime Minister of Uganda, Amama Mbabazi, and several ministers.
The Togo delegation included Robert Dussey, the Togo Minister of Foreign Affairs, among others.
The meeting provided a platform for the two leaders to discuss ways of promoting investment opportunities and cooperation between the two countries.
