The sudden death of renowned gynecologist Dr. John Spire Kiggundu has sparked widespread interest, with many eagerly awaiting answers.
Eva Mbabazi, the woman last seen with Dr. Kiggundu, has finally broken her silence.
According to Mbabazi, her visit to Dr. Kiggundu’s hotel room at Dream Guest House in Lubowa was purely professional.
“I went to his room for a medical consultation,” Mbabazi stated through her lawyer. “We only had a short discussion. I didn’t even know he was unwell.”
Investigation Update
Mbabazi’s explanation aligns with her cooperation with investigators, who have received her full statement.
The case file has been submitted to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal review.
“We are awaiting guidance on whether she has a case to answer and what charges, if any, should be filed,” said police.
Dr. Kiggundu checked into the hotel at 5:45 PM on June 21, 2025, and was found dead just an hour later.
Initial medical reports suggest he may have died of a heart attack.
However, police continue to investigate the circumstances of his death to rule out any possibility of foul play.
Public Reaction
Dr. Kiggundu’s passing has shocked many, including his brother, activist Dr. Jimmy Spire Ssentongo.
“Let the investigation take its course,” Dr. Ssentongo urged, asking the public to avoid rumors and allow the truth to emerge.
As the nation waits for answers, Mbabazi’s statement adds a new layer to the story, raising questions and clearing some speculation.
The truth behind Dr. Kiggundu’s final moments remains in the hands of investigators.
