Tragic news has struck the political community with the passing of Hon. Jolly Patrick Baguma Ateenyi, former FDC Vice Chairperson for Western Uganda under Col. Rtd. Dr. Warren Kiiza Besigye Kifefe and later Vice President FDC Western under Gen. Rtd. Mugisha Muntu.
He lost his life in a road accident in Busega just moments ago.
The news comes as a shock to many, especially given the preparations that were underway for his introduction and wedding.
Prince Baguma, a son of the late Omubiito Ramuji of Katasiha in Hoima, was a well-respected member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).
He had contested for the Hoima Municipality parliamentary seat in 2016 and was active in local politics, community mobilization, and youth mentorship.
State Minister for Youth and Children, Balaam Barugahara, described the loss as heartbreaking.
He promised to communicate burial arrangements soon.
Tributes have been pouring in from political leaders, activists, and ordinary citizens.
Many are praising Prince Baguma’s humility, wisdom, and commitment to uplifting his community.
Ismail Kasule, who worked closely with Prince Baguma, remembered him as a mentor who offered guidance and inspired many through his generosity and loyalty.
However, concerns have been raised about the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Some are speculating that Prince Baguma may have been targeted due to his political stance.
The Kabalega Old Boys Association, which counts Prince Baguma among its distinguished alumni, has also paid tribute to his memory.
As the kingdom mourns the loss of a beloved prince, the community comes together to celebrate his life and legacy.
