Nekesa Predicts Landslide Win as Busia and Samia-Bugwe Prepare for Weekend Campaigns

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) National Treasurer, Ambassador Nekesa Barbra Oundo, has projected a commanding electoral victory for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the Bukedi sub-region, declaring that Busia and Samia-Bugwe are already mobilized to deliver over 90% support for the ruling party.

The remarks came as President Museveni campaigned in Budaka District on Thursday, continuing his nationwide tour ahead of the 2026–2031 general elections.

Nekesa, who also serves as the head of the Bukedi Sub-region Campaign Taskforce, expressed strong confidence that the region’s political structures are fully aligned to guarantee President Museveni an overwhelming endorsement.

She emphasized that leaders across Bukedi—from district to village levels—are actively coordinating and mobilizing communities to surpass the 90% mark in the forthcoming polls.

She revealed that enthusiasm across the region is at its highest level in recent years, attributing this to renewed teamwork and intensified grassroots mobilization.

Addressing thousands of supporters at Saaza Grounds in Budaka, Nekesa said the region is firmly behind the NRM presidential flag bearer.

She stated that the NRM’s upgraded mobilisation approach has strengthened its visibility and presence at the village level, giving the party a significant head start in its re-election efforts.

Before President Museveni took to the podium, Hon. Nekesa reaffirmed that the district, sub-county, and grassroots leadership structures are united behind both the President and the party’s parliamentary and local government flagbearers.

She noted that this unity is crucial in consolidating the party’s dominance in the region ahead of the decisive 2026 vote.

She stressed that the new NRM mobilisation strategy being rolled out in Bukedi is already showing tangible results on the ground.

She declared, “Every leader in Bukedi is working tirelessly to ensure that President attain over 90% support in the 2026 election. We are organised, united, and commited to delivering all NRM flagbearer as well.”

She further explained that the consistently large turnouts at NRM gatherings across the sub-region demonstrate the strong support President Museveni continues to enjoy.

She said the rejuvenated mobilisation model emphasizes door-to-door networks, direct community engagement, and strengthening party structures at every tier.

She expressed confidence that these approaches will translate into what she described as “a decisive victory for the NRM.”

During the rally, residents gathered in overwhelming numbers to hear from President Museveni, who presented the NRM’s roadmap for Uganda’s continued socio-economic transformation.

He highlighted key focus areas including infrastructure development, wealth-creation programs, and improvements in essential service delivery.

The President’s message resonated with the audience, many of whom expressed support for the ongoing government agenda.

As the President’s campaign trail continues to draw widespread attention across the Bukedi sub-region, Hon. Nekesa encouraged NRM supporters to sustain their momentum and turn up in even greater numbers for the upcoming rallies.

She urged them to maintain unity and visibility as the party prepares to shift its campaign focus to Busia and Samia-Bugwe on Saturday.
