Kim Jong Un’s View of the Future

Kim Jong Un’s View of the Future

Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, attaches importance to the future.

He posed for a photograph with a 6-month-old baby in his arms during his visit to a far-flung island on the West Sea; when he visited a worker’s family in a new flat on Changjon Street in Pyongyang, he seated the second son, a primary schoolboy, of this family on his knees and taught him how to draw a picture, and when he met children, he willingly lent his ears to their whispers, and patted them on their cheeks–he just looked like their father rather than the leader of a country.

He gives top priority to the work for the rising generation over all other state affairs, and passes his precious time among them. He feels pleasure and happy when he has done something for children and when their happy laughter and their singing resound loudly.

During his visit to the newly-built Kyongsang Kindergarten on Changjon Street, he spoke highly of the rubber mats and grassland on the playground and appreciated the efforts of kindergarten teachers for the development of children’s psychology while watching the children drawing pictures and a board showing their skills. And he presented the kindergarten with some illustrated reading books which he had brought with him, saying that children can possess abilities to analyse and judge things and phenomena in nature when they read many collections of puzzles.

In June 2012 a celebration ceremony of the 66th anniversary of the founding of the Korean Children’s Union (June 6, 1946) was held in Pyongyang. The celebration was attended by delegates, numbering 20 000, from primary schools and middle schools across the country.

The news of its holding had been made public, but nobody had expected that Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un would attend it, and make a congratulatory speech at that.

In the congratulatory speech at the ceremony held at Kim Il Sung Stadium,      Kim Jong Un said that the members of the Children’s Union are treasures more valuable than billions of tons of gold, and represent the hope and future of the country. That day he enjoyed a specially prepared concert, titled Love the Future, with the young delegates. After the concert was over, he saw a fireworks display with them, thus spending the whole day with them. The next day he posed for a photograph with 20 000 delegates, changing his seat 20 times.

There is a camp in Mt Myohyang, built for the students from the capital city, Pyongyang. One day Kim Jong Un visited this camp, looking round several places to learn in detail about camping by students and giving instructions on how to operate the camp more effectively. At that time the young campers were on a mountain hiking; he awaited them for a long time and posed for a photograph with them, before leaving the camp.

Several years ago, the areas along the Tuman River, situated in the northernmost part of the country, had been devastated by flooding. Kim Jong Un saw to it that every possible human, material and technical potential of the country was enlisted for the construction of houses for the people in the flood-stricken areas, and at the same time took measures for sending nearly 2 000 children in these areas to the Songdowon International Children’s Camp for camping.

What is particularly noteworthy in his love for the rising generations is his affection for orphans.

Saying that orphans, too, should become pillars of the country in the future, he saw to it that all the baby homes and orphanages across the country were renovated at the highest level. He calculated the quantity of fish that should be provided every day for orphans, and organized a fishery station in charge of catching fish for the old people in the rest homes, as well as orphans.

When he was reported that a senior official of the Party committee of a province was taking good care of orphans of baby home and orphanage in the province, he wrote a letter of thanks to him. And when a new middle school for orphans was built in Pyongyang, he went there and expressed his satisfaction over the fact that orphans could now study and live with nothing to envy in the world.

The international society believes a brighter future of the DPRK is in store thanks to Kim Jong Un’s love for children and students.
