Each day comes with it’s reason as to why Bobi Wine shouldn’t be on the ballot.
However much it’s the right of every Ugandan to participate in the Country’s Politics and offer themselves as Candidates on different positions of leadership but at times some people show incompetence right from the beginning of their plans to stand and I think it would be better if they choose to not to stand but rather serve the country in the fields they find suitable for them. For instance, Bobi Wine a talented musician, would do better in entertaining and educating Ugandans through music. When you take time to listen to his songs, you realize he has a got talent in music because when you’re listening to his music, you laugh and if you don’t laugh at least you dance or sing along with him, that’s what music is supposed to do.
However, Bobi wine wants to drug his talent of music to serious Politics of not only being a member of Parliament but also attempting to be President of Uganda. I believe people can change from Soul to Paul but to some people it’s more than impossible especially considering what they’re intending to carry. Being a President takes a lot, it’s not only about officiating on national celebrations and taking military salutes but alot of decisions have to be taken and those decisions drive a country from one step to another. In case of mistakes in those decisions a country can crumble down in minutes, that’s exactly what Idi Amin and other former Presidents did. I think Ugandans then, we changing leadership just for the sake of changing not considering the competence and the experience of those leaders.
Recently, I was on Facebook reading posts and I came across a post of Bobi Wine’s colleague in music – Eddy Kenzo. Kenzo was asking Bobi that if he has failed to control his supporters how will he manage to control the entire Nation. Most of the people who were commenting took at as an insult and none of them took time to internalize and answer. When a person is supported, he becomes the commander of his supporters, if he believes in violence his supporters will always be violent and if he believes in peace and harmony his supporters will always be peaceful. That’s why Mugisha Muntu has the most peaceful and organized supporters in the country. Just like him, they’re always Quiet until it’s time to speak and that’s when you will only hear from them. For me, I think Eddy Kenzo asked a credible and challenging Question to Bobi wine, which him and his supporters must think about.
Not so many weeks ago, a ugandan socialite living in South Africa called Zari asked about Bobi Wine’s credentials of becoming president. She was insulted and called all sorts of things. None of his supporters laboured to answer but they instead took her on as enemy who was ought to be fought until she had no other choice but to surrender and that’s exactly what she did. Shortly after that, I came across a story of Ugandan lawyer who has petitioned the electoral commission to explain Bobi Wine’s qualifications of standing for Presidency. These people are not sent or advised to do what they’re doing. They’re sober thinking Ugandans who are seeking answers and who wants to see Uganda get the good leadership it deserves.
Bobi Wine’s pressure group and later Political party has been engraved in shabby and ugly politics of tribalism, openly creating hatred against the people from the western part of Uganda. His people argue that all privileges go to the Banyankole which is actually not true. Funny enough, Bobi Wine’s Political Party has leadership only picked from one part of the country – Buganda and they’ve never given explanation of that, they only descend on the NRM Government to Criticize how tribalistic it is. I hope Ugandans take note of that and they will judge who of the two is more tribalistic than the other.
We’ve often times seen Bobi Wine fail to answer Questions about the economy of the country and we have seen him fail to communicate. At one time ugandans were requesting him not to appear on the international media because it had become routine embarrassment each time he appeared, he would not only fail to answer Questions but one would see him trembling and failing to make a point. Those are a few things that he has exposed, there are many more that we haven’t known but which we shall know very soon. And that’s why I say that it would be a better decision if Bobi wine chose not to stand. He should step down for the known Politicians like Nobert Mao, Kiiza Besigye, Mugisha Muntu and the rest if indeed he yearns for Change of leadership in Uganda. I think that will be the way for him to see that change achieved.
