The police have issued strict security guidelines as the government reopens bar, concerts and other performing art activities within the country.
Whereas government recently reopened other sectors of the economy, bars, concerts and other activities of the performing art sectors remained closed due to COVID-19 pandemic that ravaged the country since 2020, March when Uganda went into the first lockdown.
Two weeks ago, President Museveni maintained that the bar, concert and performing art sectors shall be re-opened by January 24, 2022.
On Monday, during the Weekly police press briefing held at Naguru police headquarters, Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson said security has issued standard operating guidelines that govern the operation of these facilities.
Top on the guidelines, is the security checks in all the bars and other places of concerts among others.
“We should ensure strict security checks to avoid possible terror attacks. We should be alert and ensure constant vigilance at all time in all places,” Enanga said.
Enanga further cautioned Boda-boda motorists against flouting curfew directives adding that police shall continue enforcing the directive until it is lifted by the President.
“There are so many terror agents still moving around within our community, ensure you remain vigilant and report to any nearby security unit any suspicious elements around you,”He noted.
Police also directed operators of all places of entertainment to ensure COVID-19 SOPS are strictly adhered to by their clients.
