Community Engagement at the Forefront: Joint Security Forces Launch Civil-Military Initiatives in Busia

In a bid to strengthen relationships with the local community, the Joint Security Forces, in collaboration with the Ministry of State for Foreign Affairs (Regional Cooperation), have launched a series of Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities in Busia district.
The initiatives, focusing on environmental areas, aim to promote public hygiene, sanitation, and unity among the residents.
Minister John Mulimba, who launched the activities, commended the security forces for their commitment to community engagement. “These CIMIC activities are a build-up to the President’s visit and demonstrate the joint security forces’ commitment to community engagement,” he said.
The activities will culminate in a thanksgiving ceremony on August 9, 2024, expected to be attended by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Col Robert Rutainama, representing Maj Gen Don William Nabasa, Commander of the 3 Infantry Division, reiterated the forces’ dedication to CIMIC activities. “Our efforts aim to give back to the community, mitigate disease outbreaks, promote sanitation, and foster unity, cherishing our long-term partnership with the people.”
The week-long activities will encompass various initiatives, including public hygiene and sanitation drives in urban centers, markets, health facilities, and sports events such as football and netball, in Busia District.
Wandera Suzan, Deputy Mayor of Busia Municipality, expressed gratitude to the security forces for their cooperation with the civilian population.
The launch of these CIMIC activities demonstrates the Joint Security Forces’ commitment to community engagement and their efforts to build trust and foster relationships with the local population.
By working together, the security forces and the community can promote a safer and healthier environment for all.
