Uganda and DRC Strengthen Ties Through Presidential Visit

President Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) arrived in Uganda on October 30, 2024, for a working visit with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, marking a significant step towards strengthening bilateral ties and regional cooperation.
Tshisekedi was warmly received at State House, Entebbe, by his host, President Museveni, accompanied by his ministers and senior government officials.
The two leaders engaged in bilateral talks, focusing on matters of mutual interest, regional developments, and their commitment to peace and security.
They reaffirmed their dedication to regional peace and security, acknowledging the crucial role of strengthened economic and commercial ties in fostering growth and stability in Uganda, the DRC, and the broader East African region.
This visit underscores the importance of cooperation between the two nations, building on previous interactions, such as President Museveni’s receipt of a special message from President Tshisekedi in July 2023, where they discussed fighting terrorism and ensuring peace in the Great Lakes Region .
The talks also highlighted the significance of economic partnerships, recognizing the potential for increased trade and investment to drive prosperity in both countries.
