The Local Council Five Chairman of Mpigi district, Ssejjemba Martine, has been arrested alongside two District Service Commission members, Kirumira Fredrick and Nakamoga Sarah.
They were apprehended by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit on Friday, June 27, 2025, over allegations of soliciting bribes in exchange for jobs within the district.
The suspects are accused of collecting bribes ranging from Shs50,000 to Shs15 million from job applicants.
Their arrest follows a directive from President Yoweri Museveni, who received complaints from local journalists regarding widespread corruption in the Mpigi District recruitment process during his Parish Development Model (PDM) monitoring tour in the Greater Mpigi area on June 17, 2025.
President Museveni was informed that the District Service Commission was allegedly selling jobs to the highest bidder.
The three suspects will soon be arraigned and charged before Courts of Law as investigations are still ongoing.
According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the suspects were transferred to Kampala city pending formal charges.
The unit confirmed that the suspects were arrested following the conclusion of preliminary investigations and would be charged accordingly.
