Bukedea district health workers have kick started a covid 19 mass vaccination at funerals.
Health workers attached to Akuoro health center II on Saturday had a launch of a new strategy at the burial of a celebrated teacher identified as Jane Frances Tukei Obilil in Atuta village, Bukedea Sub County, Bukedea district.
Joseph Amodoi the clinical officer in charge Akuoro health center II said on top of the routine vaccination program at the health facility and outreaches every Tuesday and Thursday, they thought it better for part of the staff to reach out to the community at burials where they gather at free will.
While vaccinating clients who were willing to get the jabs, Amodoi said when it comes to the second round they should keep the date written on the card.
“We have in this launch vaccinated 46 people because rain disorganized. I have asked them to carry the vaccination cards that we have issued them to their nearest health centers in their respective localities so that they get the second dose of astrazenecca,” Amodoi said.
Dr. Bernard Odu, the retired regional medical superintendent cautioned people on SOPs observation and taking advantage of the launch of COVID19 at Tukei’s life celebration.
“I personally as a medical practitioner was behind the launch of this because I wanted the celebration of Jane Tukei’s life to be marked with lifesaving government program,” Dr. Odu said
Tom Tomusange who benefitted from the launch said health services are easy to get in Bukedea.
However, Alex Ajiji the high court judge who represented the Uganda’s judiciary as they condoled their colleague Augustine Obilil Idoot challenged Iteso to take Education as a major priority.
“Mama Jane as you all know her with her late husband Augustine Obilil the former secondary head teacher have made us proud and nationalistic because they married after Education exposure and never divorced,” Ajiji said.
