Another FDC Pillar Cites Hypocrisy in Opposition; Defects to NRM
By The Public Lens
One of the prominent opposition politicians in Mayuge, Kyeyamwa Aggrey, who has been for many years one of the main pillars of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party in the district, has defected and converted to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Kyeyamwa says at the moment, due to the lack of any tangible cause for opposition to NRM, there is no genuine opposition party in the country but teams of disgruntled gangs of mere hypocrites and fortune seekers scavenging for survival and opportunities to amass wealth.
“I have today in broad day light chosen without any regrets whatsoever chosen to join the winning team,” were the words spoken by Kyeyamwa as he declared his allegiance to NRM.
Kyeyamwa contends that amidst the increasing and deepening political squabbles in all opposition political ranks and parties in Uganda at the time of his conversion, he is not ready and vows not to continue involving himself in a politics of hypocrisy under the guise of opposing NRM.
“I am a true servant of God and cannot continue wallowing in this open hypocrisy in the opposition. I have decided to join President Museveni’s developmental and foresighted Government for the betterment of this country. I have been opposing Museveni for many past years but later found that he has Uganda at heart and he is the only person with the right revelation of the past, present and future of this country,” he said.
Kyeyamwa praises President Museveni for being such a prudent and foresighted leader who has so skillfully steered this nation into glaring and undisputable development to the extent that there is no more firm ground left on which the opposition can base to effectively criticize NRM.
“I am one of those people who see no genuine cause to continue opposing President Museveni whose committed and foresighted leadership has rejuvenated and made this country appear new and fresh like a gigantic new construction site with fresh cement,” Pastor Kyeyamwa, the new NRM convert declares openly.
Kyeyamwa goes ahead and concedes that the entire opposition has lost ground on which to criticize NRM because even the issue of factories such as Nytil which was the main basis of criticism has been worked on and is even better than what it used to be in the past regimes.
He elaborates that, under the wise leadership of President Museveni, great strides have been undertaken to rehabilitate the economy that had been in the economic limbo. He has revived the economy which for long had suffered an economic shock as a result of Idi Amins act of deporting Asians who owned most of the businesses. As a result, many businesses both small and big were ruined and factories eventually closed.
“President Museveni has so much worked on the issue of factories which used to be the main basis of criticism to the extent that even some of the areas that used to be burial sites in Jinja, like Masese, are now factories. Namanve which was a murder site during the Iddi Amin regime is now home to hundreds of factories,” Kyeyamwa elaborates.
On the side of security, Pastor Kyeyamwa praises President Museveni saying that due to the good leadership Uganda has become an island of peace not only in the east African region but the entire African continent.
“President Museveni has not only created peace in Uganda and the east African region but also exported it in the whole of the African continent. In 2013, the UPDF intervened in South Sudan to stop the then roaming genocide, they also intervened in the Central African Republic to pursue and hunted down LRA rebels who constantly raided the vulnerable locals,” Pastor Kyeyamwa said.
Talking about infrastructure, Pastor Kyeyamwa stresses that the NRM leadership has put emphasis on developing infrastructure with a view to reducing the cost of production.
Pastor went ahead to say that even the youth and women do not have what to complain about because President Museveni piloted a skilling programmes for the youth and women throughout the country.
He further explains that to ensure universal access to education, the NRM government in 1997 introduced Universal Primary Education (UPE), Universal Secondary Education (USE) for O-level in 2007, Universal Post-O-level Education and Training (UPOLET) and Universal A-level in 2012. The literacy rate has greatly improved and enrollment in primary and secondary schools is now very high.
Who is Pastor Kyeyamwa
Kyeyamwa a born and resident of Magamaga Town Council and a Politician by passion has contested for various political positions in Mayuge district but miserably lost main election at deferent levels though after winning the FDC party primaries.
However, Pastor Kyeymwa, like Nelson Mandela philosophically contends that it is wrong to judge him by his successes, but better by how many times he fell down and got back up again. He contends that despite the many times of losing the elections but still with his deep political thought which incessantly keeps pushing him irresistibly forward, he will never give up trying.
“I am unbothered by the so called defeats or losses. I will remain on the elective political arena until I acquire the opportunity to engineer the mindset of our people,” he is quoted as saying.
Quoting Joseph Stalin, Pr. Kyeyamwa said, “The people who cast the votes don’t decide an election, the people who count the votes do.”
Further unraveling his yet undiscovered philosophical political prowess Kyeyamwa contends that “Leadership is about managing the people’s divergent interests and views with the aim of collectively moving to the next level as a society”
As established by the Public Lens, Kyeyamwa, who has an exceptional love for Rural Development and Community Mobilization plus care giving to the elderly and the needy is a devoted servant of God, a Pastor of Blessed Nations worship center in Nansana in Wakiso district and currently serves as the Public relations officer of the United Born Again Characters Outreach in Wakiso District.
This Publication also found out that Kyeyamwa is an Auditor who works with Abet and Company Certified Public Accountants in Kampala City and he is a Senior Auditor who but also deals in Real Estate business.
He is also the founder of Aggrey Kyeyamwa Foundation which currently offers hundreds of bursaries for Certificate, Diploma and Degree courses at its Magamaga office.
In real terms, Kyeyamwa is a seasoned politician who has always been in leadership right from his school days.
He joined active politics in 2005 on the return of multiparty politics in Uganda and contested for the seat of a District Councilor of Wairasa Electoral Area (current Wirasa subcounty) in Mayuge District but was declared to have lost.
Not allowing himself to be thwarted by the District Councillor electoral defeat that he suffered against Aminsi Ndhote, he chose to participate in 2005 the first NRM party’s Primaries for the District LC 5 seat against Ikoba Baker Tigawalana the former and first Chairman of Mayuge District which he lost. This was Uganda’s first multiparty election since the return to multipartism.
Again not thwarted by the defeat in 2005 Pr. Kyeyamwa bounced back again in 2016 and this time contested as the Forum Democratic Change’s Flag bearer for the LC 5 seat of Mayuge District which he lost again!.
It was baffling to the ordinary mind how and from where Kyeyamwa acquires the fortitude and resilience to keep returning to the political field in which he has sustained several political losses and electoral defeats!
