President Museveni Urges Musicians to Champion Wealth Creation and Patriotism

In a meeting with over 100 musicians at State House, Entebbe, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni emphasized the importance of using music as a tool for promoting wealth creation and patriotism.
The meeting, organized by Commissioner Hellen Seku, brought together musicians led by Uganda Musicians Federation President, Eddy Kenzo, including notable artists Bebe Cool and Jose Chameleone.
President Museveni reiterated the government’s support for the music industry and encouraged musicians to use their platform to disseminate the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) wealth creation message.
He emphasized the need for musicians to compose constructive songs that contribute to the country’s development and urged them to be patriotic.
The President also directed Commissioner Seku to organize patriotism and ideological training for musicians before the end of the year.
He cautioned against politics of identity based on tribe and religion, advocating instead for politics of interest that promote national prosperity.
Eddy Kenzo highlighted the need for protection of artistic intellectual works, requesting President Museveni to expedite the passage of the copyright law.
The musicians thanked the President for hosting them and pledged to support government programs aimed at socio-economic transformation in Uganda.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Hon. Betty Amongi, and Minister of State for Gender and Culture, Hon. Peace Mutuuzo, among others.
By engaging with musicians, President Museveni demonstrated the government’s commitment to harnessing the power of music for national development.
