Pyongyang, February 13 (KCNA) — A new project for building 10,000 flats started in the capital city of Pyongyang amid the growing revolutionary enthusiasm and devoted efforts of the people across the country to celebrate the 80th birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il as a great revolutionary auspicious event.
The construction of 10,000 flats in the Hwasong area will begin under the plan for building 50,000 flats in Pyongyang City set forth at the 8th Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the decision made at the 4th Plenary Meeting of the Party Central Committee.
The housing construction projects undertaken by our Party one after another serve as a striking demonstration of the people-first principle and the power of strenuous execution of its Central Committee that subordinates and orients everything to bringing earlier a new world of a prosperous power where the people enjoy the highest dignity and the best happiness.
A ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of 10,000 flats in the Hwasong area was held with splendor on February 12.
The venue for the ceremony was overflowing with the enthusiasm of the soldier-builders and civilian-builders determined to translate the long-cherished desire of our Party into a brilliant reality and take the lead in accelerating the development of our-style socialist civilization by ceaselessly performing exploits in the most worthwhile and glorious work determined by the Party Congress, true to the new construction revolution programme of the Party Central Committee.
Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, attended the ground-breaking ceremony.
When the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un arrived at the venue for the ceremony, all the participants greeted him with enthusiastic cheers of “Hurrah!” as a token of their reverence for him who brings about the bright morrow of a highly civilized and prosperous power and ushers in a new era of startling changes with his steel-strong faith, far-sighted wisdom and invincible leadership, remaining faithful to his great duty for the country, the people and the revolution.
Present there were Jo Yong Won and Kim Tok Hun, members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, Ri Il Hwan and O Su Yong, secretaries of the Party Central Committee, Pak Hun, vice-premier of the Cabinet, and other Party and government cadres, and officials in the city including those of the Cabinet, ministries and national institutions.
Also present were Ri Yong Gil, Kim Jong Gwan and other officials of the armed forces organs.
When the start of the ceremony was declared, the national anthem of the DPRK was solemnly played.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un made a meaningful speech “Let Us Further Glorify the Golden Age of Capital City Construction by Bringing about a Sea-change in the Hwasong Area.”
Expressing his pleasure over the ground-breaking ceremony for building another new street for people symbolic of the era of great changes in the capital city full of fresh courage and confidence,

Kim Jong Un warmly congratulated, on behalf of the Party Central Committee and the DPRK government, the capital city builders and service personnel of the People’s Army on opening up a prelude to the struggle in 2022 by starting with a splendid ceremony the construction of 10,000 flats in the Hwasong area, true to the decisions made at the 4th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Party Central Committee.
He said that the construction of 10,000 flats in the Hwasong area, one of the top priority tasks facing the construction sector this year, is not only the second project for carrying out the long-term goal for housing construction in Pyongyang City, a long-cherished plan of the Party whose implementation started last year, but also the first-stage construction for turning the area into a new modern town.
He highly praised the service personnel and civilians involved in the construction of 10,000 flats in the Songsin, Songhwa areas, the eastern gateway to Pyongyang, for turning the areas into an excellent street with their indomitable spirit and strenuous efforts, thus achieving great successes and providing a sure guarantee for pushing ahead with the housing construction in the Hwasong area, as planned, this year, the second year for implementing the decisions made at the 8th Party Congress.
Expressing the belief that their sky-high enthusiasm and the spirit of the offensive will be fully displayed in the construction of 10,000 flats to be launched in the Hwasong area and more encouraging and significant greater successes achieved in the construction project, he advanced the tasks and ways to dynamically and scrupulously conduct the grand construction campaign this year.
Terming the construction of 10,000 flats in the Hwasong area the major thrust, in which the biggest progress should be made, on the front of the great construction involving the whole country, he expressed expectation that the construction units deployed in the Hwasong area would dedicate all their wisdom, enthusiasm and high spirit to the sacred construction campaign by taking the lead in the campaign and becoming examples to the builders of other construction sites.
When Kim Jong Un finished his impassioned speech, all the builders raised stormy cheers of “Hurrah!”, filled with a firm will to build a thriving street symbolic of socialism in the Hwasong area and ensure the continuity of the heyday in the capital city construction by dint of indomitable tenacity and inexhaustible spirit of creation, true to the noble intention of Kim Jong Un who goes to great pains for a new great era of the development of Korean-style socialism, for the capital city of Pyongyang and for the people’s happiness to be brought into full bloom along with new magnificent streets.
A letter of pledge to the Party was read out by Kim Jong Gwan at the ceremony.
He mentioned the builders’ high enthusiasm to live up to the deep trust of the Party Central Committee which unfolded a grandiose blueprint for turning the area near the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the sacred temple of Juche, into an icon of the Korean-style socialist civilization and called them to the sacred construction site.
Noting that all the builders regard it as a due obligation and bounden duty of them who are the descendants of President Kim Il Sung and soldiers and disciples of Chairman Kim Jong Il to spruce up the area near the palace, he said they will surely build a model street, fresh wealth of the people vividly representing the great era of Kim Jong Un and the ideal of the Party, as scheduled by its Central Committee, in the Hwasong area, on which the global attention is focused, as expected by the people.
The letter expressed the steadfast will of the builders to create a new construction speed of Hwasong, the myth of Hwasong, in the decisive campaign of loyalty, holding aloft the flag of the headquarters of the construction of 50,000 flats in Pyongyang, which Kim Jong Un personally handed over to them, as a banner of struggle and advance.
All the soldier-builders and civilian-builders solemnly made a pledge of loyalty toward the Party that they would strikingly demonstrate to the world what kind of miracle will be made under the grandiose plan of the Party Central Committee remaining faithful to the people by bringing about a tremendous change in the Hwasong area through an all-out drive with full confidence in victory.
Then there was a blasting, signaling the beginning of the construction of 10,000 flats in the Hwasong area.
Following the blast, fireworks were displayed in the sky along with thunderous cheers.
The soldier-builders and civilian-builders chanted slogans representing their pledge to devotedly carry out the plan of the Party out of their will to fully demonstrate their honor and spirit as proud creators and dignified pioneers who write a new history of prosperity and development in the era of the WPK in the construction of the Hwasong area.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un warmly waved back to the trustworthy soldier-builders and civilian-builders as a token of his encouragement to them who have gone all out for the grand construction campaign for demonstrating the militant might of the great WPK and the revolutionary spirit of socialist Korea, true to the intention and will of the Party Central Committee.
The construction of 10,000 flats in the Hwasong area will clearly prove the fervent patriotic zeal and extraordinary creativity of the Korean people vigorously advancing toward the bright future of socialism and the development level and potentialities of the country dynamically advancing toward the attainment of grand goals, guided by the great Party Central Committee.
