By The Public Lens
The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with partners, has launched a groundbreaking campaign, “Together for Mama,” aimed at improving maternal and newborn health in Uganda.
Dr. Diana Atwine, the Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary, introduced the campaign on Monday, August 26, 2024, highlighting its mission to mobilize local support for essential life-saving equipment.
The campaign seeks to address critical shortages in maternal and newborn care by ensuring that health facilities are equipped with the necessary tools to provide quality services.
In partnership with development partners, including Stanbic Bank, the campaign will feature quarterly fundraising events to raise vital funds and awareness.
Dr. Atwine emphasized that the campaign not only seeks to raise funds but also aims to raise awareness about the challenges faced by mothers and newborns in accessing quality healthcare.
The year-long campaign will be wrapped up by a walkathon on October 6, 2024, and will run under the hashtag #TogetherForMaMa.
Through this initiative, Uganda is taking a significant step towards ensuring that mothers and newborns receive the quality care they deserve, and the “Together for Mama” campaign is poised to make a lasting impact on maternal and newborn health in the country.
