In a shocking case of marital violence, Kevina Nabirye, a 35-year-old mother of four, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for attempted murder.
The Kamuli Chief Magistrate’s Court delivered the verdict after Nabirye was found guilty of cutting off her husband’s genitals in a brutal attack.
According to court records, the incident occurred on February 18, 2025, at around 11 p.m. in their home in Buguwa village, Kamuli District.
Nabirye’s husband, Mathias Bwamiki, had been hospitalized at Kamuli General Hospital since the incident, and the court’s judgment was delivered after the magistrate visited him.
During the court session on Wednesday, February 26, Chief Magistrate Paul Owino emphasized that the punishment was intended to reform Nabirye’s character.
The magistrate stated that the sentence aimed to encourage respect for life and serve as a warning to potential offenders.
Nabirye had pleaded guilty to the charges before her conviction and was informed of her right to appeal the sentence within 14 days if she found it too harsh.
