Almost every consistent Christian is sure to pray at midnight. Most christians believe, that absolute quietness and stillness are only obtainable at midnight. However, it is one thing to pray and another thing to pray fervently. Even the Bible said, men ought always to pray and not to faint. Many of us wake up to pray at midnight, only to fall asleep the next hour.
In this article, I will be listing out; six things you should avoid during midnight prayers.
1) From phone usage to prayer:
A lot of persons continue pressing their phones, till late at night before beginning their midnight prayers. It is very wrong, the fatigue and tiredness that come with using your phones at night; will make it impossible for you to pray successfully. Endeavor to sleep few hours before your night prayer, so you can be fresh and set for it.
2) Absent Mindedness.
Most times, while we claim to be praying; we are also thinking and having wandering thoughts. Avoid this during your prayers, be focused and determined on your subject of prayer.
3) Leaning against any object.
The best posture to pray at midnight is to stand, to avert sleeping while praying. Ensure you are standing, and not leaning against anything at all; it will bring discouragement and encourage fatigue.
4) Praying in darkness.
No doubt, God can answer your prayers anywhere; but it is adviseable that you pray with the lights turned on. It will help to keep you active and motivated to pray. Staying in the dark may cause sleeping or tiredness.
5) Shouting While Praying.
At times, the tempo of your prayers may change as the spirit leads; but be very much guided and try to keep your voice low. Except you live in isolation, your shouting at night may distort the sleep of others. Combine zeal with wisdom and pray calmly, God will still answer.
6) Poor Ventilation.
Some persons prefer to stay in a poorly ventilated place while praying, in order to allow excessive sweating; thereby portraying sheer seriousness of their prayers. This is not good, try praying in good ventilation. It ensures you are not distracted, or occupied with wiping off sweat droplets frequently.
