In an interview with Al-Jazeera; President M7 said the question of whether he can be succeeded by his son can only be answered by Lt Gen Muhoozi and the people of Uganda and added that its not in the short run.
The President also advised his son to go through the procedures laid out in the constitution if he is interested in the Presidency.
People are speculating that President M7 is now fronting his son to succeed him as President of Uganda though President M7 has not shown any signs or plans for Exit.
If President M7 has plans and intentions to groom his son so that if all goes well he succeeds him as President thats quite alright as long as the process is in line with the democratic principles which are always followed in Civil politics.
The 1995 Uganda Constitution stipulates that a President of Uganda must be a person elected by the citizens in a popular vote under universal adult suffrage.

WHEN SONS SUCCEED THEIR FATHERS
If Muhoozi is to succeed his Father as a President of Uganda, It won’t be the first time it is happening in Africa.
Visible scenarios of Father to Son Succession

The current President Ali Bongo Ondimba succeeded his Father Omar Bongo Ondimba after grooming him that included being handed a cabinet.
Note:

The First son Teodorin Nguema Obiang is the current Vice President incharge of Defense and Security and is the possible successor to historic Father President Teodoro Obiang Nguema
3. Other First sons that led their countries include;
DR Congo
i) Joseph Kabila in the Democratic Republic of Congo
Togo
ii) Faure Gnassingbe’ Eyadema of Togo succeeded his Father Etienne Eyadema
Kenya
iii) Uhuru Kinyatta of The Republic of Kenya followed the footsteps of his Father after 34 years
iv) Malawi

Nana Akufo-Addo, the current President of Ghana is the son of the founding fathers of Ghana and President of Ghana from 1970 to 1972.
vii) Botswana- Khama Ian
Sereste Khama Ian was the President of Botswana from 2008 to 2018. Khama Ian also followed footsteps of his Father Sir Seretse Khama who was the first President of Botswana after 27 years.
viii) Mauritius-Navinchandra Ramgoolam
He followed the footsteps of his Father Seewoosagur Ramgoolam after 13 years to be Prime minister.
NOTE
Africa doesn’t have a monopoly on family political dynasties; recent events suggest that countries should and must have clear constitutional processes for succession as well as open transparent freely contested elections.
History will determine which sons carry the day and how Africa’s President’s sons are treated in the future.
Increasingly, most Africa countries have put in place constitutional provisions to handle the passing of the President and change of leadership or are respecting constitutional provisions from earlier constitutions.
