Poor academic performance irks Dokolo CAO, summons all Stakeholders to answer

Prompted by the poor academic performance in the district as demonstrated by the recently released UCE results, Dokolo District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Richard Madete has summoned all Stakeholders in the area for a solution finding meeting to address the problem.
Dokolo emerged as one of the worst performing districts countrywide in UCE, and among the three worst performing districts in Primary Leaving Examinations countrywide.
This performance did not go down well with the parents and the general public who consequently turned their guns to the district leadership, and more so those concerned with the education department.
Reportedly, they even went to extent of jointly requesting higher authorities for a massive transfer of all teachers including the District Education Officer and staff from the district.
The CAO however strongly believes that during this stakeholders’ meeting which he has branded as “the Education Conference,” and scheduled it to be held on February 22, 2024 at Dokolo Technical Institute, a permanent solution will be arrived at to improve the academic performance in the district.
“I very sure and optimistic that from the discussions which will be held during this conference, the participants will identify the root cause of the poor performance and come up with possible solutions to the problem,” he said.
Rev James Awany, himself an educationist and a former secondary teacher, however blames the unfortunate scenario on the laxity of both the parents and the teachers.
“I attributed the poor results on laxity and lack of seriousness by all the stakeholders including the parent and teachers,” he said during a recent talk show on one of the local FM radio stations in the district.
