Botswana Scientists Accept Museveni’s proposal to Manufacture Vaccine for Foot & Mouth Disease

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has successfully engaged Scientists from Botswana Vaccine Institute into agreement to manufacture a vaccine which will be used to stop the infection of Foot and Mouth disease in Uganda.
The vaccine is hoped to provide a lasting solution to Foot and Mouth disease which has been a big challenge to cattle farmers countrywide.
The agreement was reached at today Tuesday during a high profiled meeting between President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Botswana scientists at State House, Entebbe.
Officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation also attended the meeting.
The engagement was a follow up on the bilateral meeting between President Museveni and President Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi of Botswana on 22nd January, 2024 at Speke Resort, Munyonyo, on the sidelines of G77+ China Third South Summit.
Botswana Vaccine Institute scientists have since collected samples from the cattle affected by Foot and Mouth disease in the cattle corridor and other parts of the country affected by the disease.
Samples collected will be taken to Botswana Vaccine Institute to determine the suitable a vaccine which will be manufactured to bring the infection to an end.
