Authorities in Kampala have intensified a massive manhunt for the perpetrators behind the gruesome killing of Mr. Mutaaga David and his wife, Mrs. Deborah Florence Mutaaga, in Entebbe earlier this month.
The Uganda Police Force registered the case on Sunday, July 6, 2025, marking the start of a high-priority investigation involving multiple security agencies working in close coordination.
The slain couple, known for their strong presence and respect within their local community, were discovered dead in their home under circumstances that have raised deep concern and shock.
Addressing the media at Police Headquarters in Naguru on Monday, July 21, 2025, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rusoke Kituuma provided key updates on the status of the ongoing investigations.
ACP Kituuma announced that investigators had made a significant breakthrough by obtaining an audio recording that could be crucial in identifying one of the suspects linked to the murders.
“We have secured a voice recording of the suspect. We urge members of the public if you recognize the voice please come forward and help us identify the person. Your information could be the breakthrough we need,” ACP Rusoke urged.
To further galvanize public support and fast-track the suspect’s arrest, the police have placed a cash reward of UGX 50 million (fifty million shillings) for any credible information that directly leads to the suspect’s apprehension.
“This was a brutal and cowardly act. We will not rest until the perpetrators are brought to justice,” ACP Rusoke declared, stressing the gravity of the crime and the police’s unwavering resolve.
In his appeal, the police spokesperson called on all citizens to remain alert and support law enforcement with any relevant leads that might aid the probe.
