A Journey of Faith and Gratitude: Museveni’s Support Sends 150 Ugandan Muslims to Holy Pilgrimage

The Deputy Director General of the Internal Security Organisation, ISO Col. Emmy Katabazi, has hailed the tremendous contribution of Rev. Fr. Balthazar Ndyomugabe’s and service to the Catholic Church that have had a positive impact on many lives.

Col. Katabazi made the remarks on July 28, 2024, during a special mass to celebrate Fr. Ndyomugabe’s 37 years of priesthood at St. Francis College Kyanamira grounds in Kabale District, where he was the chief guest.

“Having known Fr. Ndyomugabe’s calling, his community, and his faith for over two decades, I have had the privilege of witnessing his resolute commitment to his calling, his community, and his faith. Fr. Ndyomugabe’s journey has been marked by remarkable achievements and steadfast dedication. His work in governance and human rights, especially through the Justice and Peace Commission of Kabale Diocese, has left an indelible mark on our community,” said Col. Katabazi.

“What sets Fr. Ndyomugabe apart is his extraordinary ability to transcend religious boundaries, collaborating harmoniously with various faith-based groups. His leadership has been a pillar of hope and unity, earning him the respect and admiration of religious leaders from diverse backgrounds. Pastors and reverends alike can attest to his tireless efforts in championing the welfare of all God’s people,” added Col. Katabazi.

In a show of support, Col. Katabazi presented a cash gift of Shs5 million to aid in the construction of the priest’s house in Kyanamira, Fr. Ndyomugabe’s home area.

During the mass led by the Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt. Rev. Callistus Rubaramira, Fr. Ndyomugabe was praised for his dedication and commitment.

The Bishop urged the congregation to keep praying for Fr. Balthazar Ndyomugabe as he continues his journey in priesthood, as well as for his fellow priests.

Ndorwa East MP Wilfred Niwagaba praised Ndyomugabe for leading God’s people and contributing to their prosperity, while Kabale District Woman MP Catherine Ndamira recognised his diligence and commitment, stating, “Your service has been an inspiration and a blessing to many.”

Former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda in his message also acknowledged Ndyomugabe’s dedication, noting his advocacy for development and reconciliation within the community.

In his speech, Fr. Ndyomugabe expressed gratitude to God for His kindness throughout his priestly journey.

“The Lord our God has been good to me with His kindness and mercy, which has brought me joy and happiness in this celebration,” he said.

As the congregation gathered to celebrate Fr. Ndyomugabe’s achievements and contributions, it was evident that his impact extended far beyond religious circles.

The outpouring of support and recognition from various leaders underscored the crucial role he has played in fostering unity and development within the community.
