MPs Laud President Museveni’s Leadership in Restoring Peace to Northern Uganda

As the parliamentary regional sitting in Gulu City, chaired by Speaker Annet Anita Among on Thursday, August 29th, 2024, entered its second day of plenary sessions, legislators commended President Museveni for his wise and visionary leadership of the country.
The legislators from both the ruling National Resistance Movement party and opposition parties praised the President for restoring peace and stability in Northern Uganda.
MP Dan Kimosho Atwijukire commended President Museveni for his visionary leadership of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) in safeguarding peace and security in the region.
Kimosho noted that President Museveni facilitated initiatives aimed at reintegrating former Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels, combatants, and abductees into society.
“Through President Museveni’s leadership, the UPDF has successfully combated rebel groups in Northern Uganda, resulting in liberation, pacification, and guaranteeing peace and security,” Kimosho stated.
MP Nakut Faith Loru Chuna thanked the Commander in Chief for inculcating a revolutionary spirit in the UPDF, which has maintained continued peace and security in Northern Uganda.
The recognition emphasizes President Museveni’s commitment to safeguarding the nation and promoting development through effective military strategies and reintegration programs.
The Cessation of Hostilities Agreement between the Government of Uganda and the Lord’s Resistance Movement was entered into in 2006 to assemble LRA forces for safety and security.
The MPs’ praise highlights President Museveni’s crucial role in restoring peace to Northern Uganda, a testament to his leadership and vision.
