Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) has reinforced its stature as both a market leader and a responsible corporate citizen by securing four prestigious awards at the Brand Africa 100 Uganda Awards held on 27 August 2025 at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
This accomplishment accentuates CCBU’s dual focus on brand equity and sustainable value creation across business and communities.
The company, part of the Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) group, was awarded Most Admired Brand in Uganda, reflecting enduring consumer trust, consistent product quality, and leadership in a fragmented, competitive soft-drinks market.
Another highlight was Rwenzori Pure Natural Mineral Water, honoured as Most Admired Ugandan Brand in the Non-Alcoholic Beverage Category, owing to its reputation as a symbol of purity, reliability, and national pride.
CCBU’s broader social commitment was recognised with the award for Most Admired Brand Contributing to a Better Africa, highlighting its inclusive growth agenda and purpose-driven business model.
Its environmental and societal leadership was further confirmed when it received Most Admired Brand Doing Good for Society and the Environment, acknowledging its ESG initiatives and sustainable practices.
Commenting on the accolades, Kirunda Magoola, Public Affairs, Communication and Sustainability Director at CCBU, remarked:
“Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda continues to inspire excellence and set the standard as Africa’s most respected and admired company, fostering growth, innovation, and impact across the continent.”
He added that the recognition reinforces the company’s mission of “creating shared value for its business, its people, and the communities it serves.”
Established in 2010, the Brand Africa 100 Awards shine a spotlight on brands that earn admiration not only through sales but also through trust, loyalty, and societal value.
Beyond award-winning branding, CCBU’s local footprint is backed by robust infrastructure.
CCBU operates two manufacturing plants in Uganda and employs approximately 986 staff, sustaining a 24-year track record in the Ugandan bottling industry.
In 2019, the company invested approximately US \$10 million in a new Rwenzori Pure Natural Mineral Water line at its Namanve facility—capable of pumping out 24,000 bottles per hour.
This was followed by a US \$27 million state-of-the-art production line commissioned in 2022 at the same site, elevating output to 67,000 bottles per hour.
On the distribution front, CCBU has empowered over 47,000 coolers across the country to support local vendors (OCCDs), aiding in stock management, sales effectiveness, and ensuring cold chain consistency.
At the continental level, the Coca-Cola system (including its bottlers) generated US \$10.4 billion in economic value in Africa in 2024, supported over 1 million jobs (including nearly 37,000 direct and 987,000 indirect roles), and invested US \$4.3 billion in local procurement—representing 83% of its total spend.
The parent system has also announced planned investments of US \$1.2 billion across Africa over the next five years and US \$25 million dedicated to water-related challenges by 2030 in 20 African markets.
CCBU recently earned global recognition as one of Uganda’s Top Employers in both 2024 and 2025, highlighting its commitment to HR excellence and employee well-being.
Together, these figures underline CCBU’s role not just as a beverage powerhouse, but also as a high-impact generator of sustainable business, social value, and economic opportunity in Uganda and beyond.
