Vowing not to relent in his anti-Kadaga fights, Ofwono Opondo demands that LC5 Chairpersons also get shs20m each since they too are elected leaders with even larger constituencies than legislators. Speaking on Capital Gang, Opondo maintained that MPs shouldn’t think they are the only elected leaders deserving to be facilitated.
He says others like Councilors, LC1 Chairpersons and Sub Country Chairpersons are also elected leaders who get approached by economically distressed citizens begging for food. He adds that MPs should vote/appropriate money for those other elected leaders too to show they aren’t selfish.
He also questions why 20m had to go to MPs’ private accounts if it’s indeed meant to fund govt covid responses. Opondo also castigates MPs for trying to hide behind the president to justify their 20m after realizing the public is very bitter with them.
On the same radio show, Opondo also defended AG William Byaruhanga wondering why speaker Kadaga shut him up not to deliver the legal opinion she solicited from him. “All this shows mischief in this shs10bn allocation which MPs never wanted the public to know about in the first place,” asserted Opondo who has always showed lots of resentment towards speaker Kadaga.
