THE RECORD FIRST FORWARD:
– The peace, stability and transquility we have in Uganda today is solely credited to our mighty security forces. No question.
– We must be profoundly grateful for the job done by these forces led by the Superior UPDF.
– No Patriot is more brave than a soldier. The courage of a soldier is like the courage of a woman during Delivery.
– I am proud of our security forces. Asante Sana Wazalendo.
– “Tunalala andaki, kazi yetu ni sida sida” meaning as we lie in the trenches, our work is problem some. When this song is played by the army band in a very high solemnity, the emotions it triggers and defeaning silence that engulfs the environment when the body of fallen gallant Patriot is lowered from a plane is empirical proof of the ultimate sacrifice it takes to be a security Officer, that a soldier. Please Ugandans, respect security Officers, for they sacrifice their lives for our own good.
THE MAJOR COMPONENTS OF OUR SECURITY FORCES:
1. Uganda People’s Defense Forces, the UPDF.
2. Uganda Police Force, the UPF,
3. The Intelligence agencies, ISO, ESO etc,
4. Uganda Prisons Services.
THE CONCENTRATE HISTORICAL FACTS ABOUT SECURITY FORCES IN UGANDA.
– The armed forces have been central in Political History of Uganda. There is no way one can write off our armed forces from the political history of Uganda. To do so is attempting to live in absurd state of self denial, the proverbial burying of head in the sand.
– The turbulent period our beloved mother went through were majorly a direct consequence of the indiscipline and unpatriotic characters of the members of the armed forces. This is an assertion many people may want to question but should objectively accept it.
– The Political turbulence Uganda went through was a direct consequence of lack of professionalism of men & women of our armed forces. No Country is stable without disciplined and Professional army & other security forces. South Sudan, Somalia, DRC, CAR are present day examples of unstable Countries due to the troubles caused by the armed forces.
– It is extremely suicidal for the people in Uganda to think that our peace and stability are free gifts. This kind of attitude demonstrates, chronic level of ignorance. And for an educated person to say so is the worst evidence of going to classes but coming out without learning anything. In a real educational principle, such people are to be recycled by repeating the entire process of education. But due to aging factor & others, such people should then be seriously oriented on factual matters. They should be forgiven but rather enlightened because you cannot flog a blind person for refusing to see. You better struggle to open the eyes of such a person.
– Our History is therefore, our basic reference to understand better the great role our our armed forces have done to give us peace, stability and triggering the development we see today.
THE CORNS & WHY THEY SHOULD NOT WORRY US A LOT.
– It is also prudent to look at the corns of armed forces.
– These include, brutality majorly attributed to police & Officers of the Intelligence agencies, particularly ISO, the Officers of LDU etc.
– This is a minor Problem though serious because when not checked it may descend into anarchy.
– This Problem has been addressed by;
1. Professionalizing the army & Police.
2. Prosecution of offenders like we saw with the Elegu prostitutes case & the case of the pregnant woman from Rubaga division who was brutalized during enforcement of the lockdown by security Officers.
– Therefore, this issue of brutality must not be advanced to discredit our security forces. We must avoid misjudging our men & women in uniforms carrying Ugandan flag.
– The massive involvement of our security forces in our politics is one thing we should work on for betterment of our Country. But let us also fairly ask ourselves for reasons why protests are been broken by the police. The main reasons are three which include;
a) Illegal protests/demonstrations.
b) Violent protests/demonstrations,
and
c) Criminals hiding under protests or demonstrations to unlish havoc on the innocent public.
Now, the indiscipline of the organizers of Ugandan protests/ demonstrations must also be strongly condemned. It is the reason police Officers have been applying reasonable force on some Citizens.
Our people must be made to know that the Constitutional provision for demonstrations or protests must not be misunderstood. Why should someone take demonstrations in the market where people are selling? What is the ultimate interest of such organizer of demonstrations? Why involve criminals in demonstrations?
We must understand that our rights must not take away the rights of the other people. As you have the right to demonstrate, also know that the market vendor has right to sell her onions in the market. So, whose right is more than whose?
THE REGIONAL SECURITY & PEACE IN THE GREAT LAKES REGION.
√ Our mighty UPDF has heavily been involved in ensuring peace in great lakes region. The peace in Rwanda after the genocide, the relative peace in Mogadishu in Somalia, the peace in South Sudan are all credits of our men and women in UPDF.
The Regional peace has created a buffer zone protecting Ugandans from foreign aggressions and even by rebels which use foreign bases to prepare to attack Uganda.
– Many narrow minded Political elites have been asking questions regarding the deployment of UPDF in South Sudan when Dr Riak Machar Atenyi & President Salvar Kiir Mayardit fell apart in December of 2015. These Political elements in Uganda must understand that Uganda will never be peaceful if her neighbours are in wars. The incoming of fire arms into Uganda are basically from three major Countries, South Sudan, DRC & Somalia.
We must put massive energies to make sure these neighbours are not in wars. That way we can guarantee the peace in Uganda sustainably. We need these buffer zones for total peace in Uganda to be maintained.
Ugandans must know that War is Peace when Peace is dishonoured. This must be our guiding principle to support our armed forces to maintain our hard earned peace. If we don’t do so, the opposite of peace is war & anarchy.
We must therefore, humbly appreciate Officers of our armed forces, advocate for their better payments to make them protect our peace and stability.
Thank you so much Commander in Chief of our armed forces, His Excellency President Gen. (Rtd) Yoweri Museveni Kaguta for your wise control of the armed forces. We love you especially in this field where your superiority is unmatched.
Bravo our men and women in uniforms, the security Personnel of the armed forces.
May God bless you always.
