Lira Uganda; Over 23 People have expressed interest to run for Dokolo Woman Member of Parliament by-election 2024.
The position became vacant following the demise of the FDC Iron Lady, Cecilia Babra Atim Ogwal early this year.
Much as the Independent Uganda Electoral Commissioner has yet not unveil the electoral roadmap, already over 23 candidates have expressed their interests to fill the seat and among them are, Dr. RoseMary Alwoc FDC, an elder daughter to the late former woman Mp, Atim Ogwal, Shara Aguti Nyangkori UPC, Jane Rose Adongo Elau NRM, NUP’s candidate, Rebecca Arao Independent, Beatrice Molly Abany Independent, Lillian Auma Okullu Independent, Dr. Anna Lalam Independent among others.
Dr. Tanga Odoi, the Chairperson of the electoral Commission of the mighty NRM Party assured the voters of Dokolo that they already have the candidate for the race which stood in the previous election under the their ticket.
Odoi added that their candidate is capable of winning the election.
Additionally, Richard Todongo the Secretary General of the NRM Party while attending the burial of the late Atim Ogwal disclosed they will deploy strategies to deliver victory in this by-election.
Currently, FDC is backing the daughter to Cecilia Atim Ogwal, Dr. Rose Mary Alwoc who have shown interest to fit in her mother’s shoe.
In his remarks recently during the burial, Patrick Amuria Oboi revealed that as Party they will give support a member of the family for the race.
