To support the forthcoming Kabaka Birthday Run scheduled for April 7, 2024, Parliament of Uganda purchased running kits worth UGX 50 million.
Kabaka’s birthday run this year is dedicated to supporting HIV/AIDS intervention with its proceeds, to encourage men to step up in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
The Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, Anita Annet Among, and her deputy, Thomas Tayebwa, have led a delegation of Members of Parliament to Bulange, Mengo.
The delegation was received by the Prime Minister (Katikkiro) of the Kingdom of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
During the visit, Speaker Among stated that parliament recognizes Buganda’s efforts in combating HIV/AIDS and, as a sign of solidarity, they want to collaborate with the Kingdom for the betterment of the country.
“We recognize your efforts in fighting HIV/AIDS. As a sign of solidarity, we want to work together with the Kingdom for the good of this country,” she added.
Noting that this is the first time a Speaker of Parliament has visited Bulange for the Kabaka run, Charles Peter Mayiga said that Among’s visit was historic.
He added that the historic visit marks the beginning of a collaborative program with the parliament of Uganda to promote the eradication of HIV/AIDS in the country.
This year marks the 11th edition of the annual Kabaka Birthday Run.
