The Kabale Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Godfrey Nyakahuma, has ordered an investigation into five companies for alleged incompetence and failure to complete contracted works.
The companies under scrutiny are Treijing Engineering Services Limited, Adwyc Contractors and Suppliers Limited, JIT Projects Limited, Adix Plumbers and Engineers Limited, and Redstone Holdings Limited.
These companies were awarded contracts for various projects across Kabale District.
Adwyc Contractors and Suppliers Limited was tasked with rehabilitating the Kabaraga gravity flow scheme in Kaharo sub-county.
Treijing Engineering Services Limited was contracted for the Kisibo gravity flow scheme in Kibuga sub-county.
Redstone Holdings Limited was responsible for constructing staff houses and toilets at Kakomo Secondary School in Kitumba sub-county.
JIT Projects Limited was contracted to build a multipurpose hall at Ndorwa Secondary School in the Southern Division of Kabale Municipality.
RDC Nyakahuma expressed frustration, stating that all these projects were supposed to have been completed by last year.
He highlighted that the incomplete works are hindering his ability to draft the district’s performance report for the 2024/2025 financial year, which is due for submission to the Office of the President.
Speaking during a State of the District address on Friday at the Kabale district council hall, Nyakahuma directed Andrew Akanyijuka, the Officer-in-Charge of Kabale Police Station, to immediately summon the directors of the implicated contracting companies to record statements.
Nyakahuma also cited an example at Nyamiryango Primary School, where pupils are forced to share a dilapidated toilet after the contractor abandoned work on a new facility.
The RDC openly criticized the outgoing Chief Administrative Officer, John Asiimwe, Kabale District LCV Chairman Nelson Nshangabasheija, and Kabale District Engineer Januario Bahagamuhunda.
He accused them of awarding contracts to incompetent firms.
While Asiimwe was absent from the council meeting, Robert Mugabe, the Kabale Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, and Mr. Nshangabasheija, who were present, did not respond to the RDC’s accusations.
